2020 Sparkling Riesling

Varietal: Riesling           Vintage: 2020           Appellation: Okanagan Valley (Lake Country)           Price: $40.00

About the Wine: Being a bit of an acid hound and a Riesling lover with German heritage, the winemaker believes that the naturally high acidity and low pH of this variety bodes well for making traditional method sparkling wine.  We choose to make this sparkling in the Crémant-style, which is a lighter and more youthful representation of our fizzy friend.  We tiraged (bottled with yeast and sugar) the wine in May 2021 and it was bottle-fermented and aged on its lees in our caves for nearly one year.  Disgorged in April 2022, the dosage liqueur added a mere 7 g/L to the wine, for the perfect balance with the racy acidity.

Food Pairing: Who needs food pairings with bubbles?  If we must, oysters are a very obvious choice… but so is life!  There is no need to wait for a special occasion when every day should be a celebration.  Go on, just pop a bottle (saber it if you dare) and raise a glass to LIFE!

Intrigue Wines

 2021 Social Rosé

Varietal: Riesling (53%), Gewurztraminer (20%), Rotberger (11%), Merlot (6%), Chardonnay (4.5%), Cabernet Franc (3%), Pinot Noir (2.5%)

Vintage: 2021          Appellation: Okanagan Valley (Lake Country)           Price: $17.50

About the Wine: Our 2021 Social Rose blend is perfect for days by the water. Summertime aromas of watermelon, citrus, and cranberry on the nose are followed by a lively palate of ruby red grapefruit, gala apples, strawberries, and raspberries with a hint of minerality on the finish.

Food Pairing: Stone ground mustard-rubbed ham with scalloped potatoes, pavlova, watermelon and mint salad, prosciutto-wrapped melon

Intrigue Wines

2021 I Do Sparkling Rosé

Varietal: Riesling (53.2%), Gewurztraminer (25.5%), Merlot (17.6%), Ehrenfelser (3.5%), Cabernet Franc (0.2%)

Vintage: 2021          Appellation: Okanagan Valley (Lake Country)           Price: $21.00

About the Wine: This frizzante-style wine truly is the definition of “Pretty in Pink.” It offers aromas of freshly picked strawberries, raspberries, and a hint of honeysuckle on the nose while flavours reminiscent of Swedish Berries and strawberry peach smoothies on a hot, summer's day linger on the palate. The crisp acidity of Riesling elevates the plump berry character of Merlot and the ripe tropical aromas of Gewurztraminer.

Food Pairing: Smoked salmon eggs benedict, coconut shrimp, buttered popcorn, wedding cake.

Ancient Hill Estate Winery

2019 Rosé

Varietal: Zweigelt (40%), Baco Noir (20%), Gewurztraminer (40%)

About the Wine: A rich, fruit-forward and well-balanced Rosé. Vibrant colour with spice, cranberry, citrus and floral aromas. Soft and refreshing in the mouth with a red cherry finish.

Food Pairing: A great wine to sip on it's own while enjoying the Okanagan sun, or pair with grilled Paella, hearty picnic salads, and share with friends!

Ex Nihilo Vineyards

2021 Vampta Rosé

Varietal: Pinot Noir           Vintage: 2021          Appellation: Okanagan Valley (Lake Country)           Price: $26.00

About the Wine: The Rosé was made in the traditional signee method. We picked the Pinot Noir grape, put it in the tank and bled off the unfermented juice when the colour was the right hue of pink. After that, we cool-fermented the juice to create this plush Rosé.

Food Pairing: The Vampata is a crisp pink in colour and speaks of summer in the glass. Aromas and flavours of strawberry, cranberry and reships. The mouthfeel is round with a balanced gooseberry finish.

Arrowleaf Cellars

2021 Rosé

Varietal: Pinot Noir           Vintage: 2021          Appellation: Okanagan Valley (Lake Country)           Price: $22.10

About the Wine: To preserve acidity and freshness, we harvested the grapes for our Rosé a little earlier than we would have if we were making red wine. The grapes were whole cluster pressed to keep extraction to a minimum. The resulting pale pink juice was fermented cool with yeast strains specifically known to highlight the berry and floral aromas. A little red wine was blended in to give it a splash of colour. The wine spent the winter on the lees in stainless steel tanks and was bottled in spring to be ready for summer.

Food Pairing: The bouquet has aromas of strawberry-rhubarb compote, watermelon, and rose petal. On the palate it is rich, dry and broad with an interesting savoury complexity on the finish. Pair with charcuterie in the picnic area, or sip chilled on its own.

Gray Monk Estate Winery

2021 Rosé

Varietal:  23% Cabernet Franc, 22% Gamay Noir, 17% Rotberger, and 12% Pinot Noir

Vintage: 2021          Appellation: Okanagan Valley           Price: $19.99

About the Wine: Each grape was given 5 to 15 hours of skin contact to develop a pretty coral pink colour. This shimmering coral pink rosé has wonderful aromas of strawberry, raspberry, melon, peach and mid-summer flowers. The light to medium bodied, refreshing, off-dry mouth-feel has flavours of raspberry, peach and melon. A fruit-bowl full of flavours (tangerine, watermelon, peach, rhubarb …) linger on the refreshing finish.

Food Pairing: Summer in a glass. Serve with Margherita pizza; Tapas; Greek salads; crab cakes; baked salmon; gazpacho; cold cuts and charcuterie; shellfish; roast pork; pork tenderloin with rhubarb sauce; savoury chicken tagine; tourtiere and tangy chili sauce; turkey with cranberry sauce; feta cheese; feta bruschetta.
