April is officially BC Wine Month—a time to raise a glass to the people, places, and passion behind the wines we love. And here on the Scenic Sip Wine Trail in Lake Country, we have so much to celebrate.
Not only are we part of the larger Okanagan Valley wine region—which makes up a whopping 86% of BC’s vineyard acreage—we’re also proud to be home to our very own sub-geographic indicator (sub-GI). That means the wines grown and crafted right here in Lake Country are truly one of a kind.
What Makes Lake Country Wine So Special?
We’re glad you asked! Lake Country is the most northern sub-GI in the Okanagan, with over 6,100 acres of west-facing slopes overlooking Okanagan Lake, and about 250 acres planted with vines.
That unique combination of northerly latitude, cool climate, and sun-catching slopes creates the perfect conditions for a long, slow growing season. Grapes get plenty of warmth during the day (thanks, sun!), but cool down at night, which helps them develop the bright acidity and fresh character that BC wines are known for.
Add in gentle air drainage, lake moderation, and the passion of our winemakers, and you’ve got something pretty special in every bottle—whether it’s a crisp white, a lively sparkling, or an expressive red.
Wineries on the Scenic Sip Wine Trail
No matter what kind of wine experience you’re after—picnic-perfect afternoons or private tastings with a view—the Scenic Sip Wine Trail has you covered.
From laid-back patios and live music nights to intimate dinners and tasting flights, every stop along the trail brings something a little different to your glass—and your day.

Why Supporting BC Wine Matters More Than Ever
Now more than ever, choosing BC wine means making a meaningful difference. You’re not just enjoying a great glass—you’re:
Supporting local growers, farmers, and small businesses
Helping preserve our beautiful agricultural landscape
Investing in Canadian craftsmanship and sustainability
Encouraging innovation in our local food and drink culture
Plus, it feels good knowing your wine has a story—and that story starts just down the road.
So this April, join us in raising a glass to BC Wine Month—and come experience the heart and soul of Lake Country through every sip. Whether you’re a local who’s never stopped to explore your own backyard or a visitor looking for something a little more off the beaten path, we promise: this trail is worth the detour.
Cheers to local wine, local love, and unforgettable moments. We’ll see you on the trail.
