There’s something about September in Lake Country.
The afternoons still feel like summer, but there’s a hint of fall in the air. The vineyards are full, harvest is getting closer, patios are a little quieter, and suddenly lingering over another glass of wine seems like a very good idea.
For those in the know, it’s one of the best times of year to experience Okanagan wine country.
And there’s plenty happening.
If you’re looking for things to do in Lake Country this September, planning a fall wine tour near Kelowna, or simply looking for an excuse to spend a day among the vines, the six wineries of the Scenic Sip Wine Trail have filled the month with food and wine pairings, live music, wellness experiences, seasonal dining, and a few experiences you’ll only find this time of year.
Here’s what to add to your September calendar.
Fries with your wine? Absolutely. One of Lake Country’s most iconic wineries is giving the classic wine pairing a decidedly more playful spin this September.
Thursday–Monday | Frites & Flights: A Tasting Trio Experience
Three Gray Monk wines. Gourmet frites. Chef-crafted dipping sauces.

September 13 & 27 | Paint & Sip
Wine country is providing the inspiration.
Spend the afternoon getting creative during a guided Paint & Sip at Gray Monk, with a welcome drink included in your ticket.

September 20 | Yoga & Mimosas
Start your Sunday among the vines with a morning yoga class, followed by a mimosa.

Go beyond the Tasting bar. September is a great month to slow things down and dig a little deeper into the wine—and 50th Parallel has two experiences designed to do exactly that.

Take a seat in the Gravity Lounge for a guided tasting of five exclusive 50th Parallel wines, thoughtfully paired with three cheeses.
It’s 45 minutes dedicated to discovering the wines, the pairings, and how the two can change the way you experience each sip.

Want to see what happens beyond the bottle?
The signature Granite Tour takes you behind the scenes of 50th Parallel Estate Winery before finishing with a guided wine tasting and charcuterie inside the winery’s impressive new wine cave.

September tastes pretty good from here. Peak Cellars has always had a close relationship between what’s growing outside and what arrives on the plate at the Garden Bistro.
September—when Okanagan farms and gardens are overflowing—is an especially good time to experience it.

Why September Might Be the Perfect Time to Visit Lake Country Wine Country
Here’s the thing about September in the Okanagan: summer doesn’t suddenly disappear when August ends.
The days can still be beautifully warm. Patios are still open. The vines are heavy with fruit. Harvest is getting closer. And the slightly slower pace gives you a chance to experience wine country without feeling like you need to race from one reservation to the next.
It’s an especially good time for a Lake Country wine tour, a weekend getaway from Vancouver or Calgary, a day trip from Kelowna, or simply an afternoon spent rediscovering what’s in your own backyard.
And with six wineries located along one scenic route just minutes from Kelowna International Airport, it’s easy to build a day around whatever sounds good.
Maybe that’s a wine and cheese tasting at 50th Parallel followed by Frites & Flights at Gray Monk. Maybe it’s a long lunch at Peak Cellars, pizza at Blind Tiger, or an evening of live music at Intrigue Wines or Ex Nihilo.
There’s no right way to Scenic Sip.
A Few Tips Before You Go
Book ahead. September can still be busy in Okanagan wine country, particularly on weekends. Restaurant reservations and tickets for special experiences are always a good idea.
Give yourself time. You don’t need to visit all six wineries in one day. Pick a few, stay awhile, and save something for next time.
Bring a layer. Warm September afternoons can turn into cool evenings quickly—especially once the sun disappears behind the hills.
Plan a safe ride. Arrange a designated driver, book a local wine tour, or plan your transportation before you start tasting.
And perhaps most importantly: don’t write off wine country just because summer vacation is over.
